John Mauldin's Thoughts

Wow, someone that has something constructive to say...very refreshing. I didn't read it all as there were a lot of words there but I like the overall tone. Thanks for sending this to me Zak.
I hope that I'm wrong but I think that we are going the Japanese route. Czechoslovakia did a miraculas job restoring the country to freedom after the Velvet Revolution- I hope we go the Eastern European path.
Yes, if I get a vote the Eastern European plan sounded the best...but I don't usually get one! I'm so sick of all the politics it seems that we the people are forgotten.

I hope we go the Eastern European path.

Good read, Zak, but I'm afraid I don't take anything positive from it if the European path is the best option. His comment says it all:

"Today in the US there are large constituencies that resist change. We only get to tinker around the edges, when real structural change is needed. Sadly, we agreed that here there is not much chance of major change. We can't even get the obvious changes needed in the financial regulatory world."

Look at the misinformation being put about in health care reform. Imagine what it would be like if financial structural reform was attempted! Tea Parties would become Tea Banquets if the Dems attempted it, and vested interests have too big a hold on the GOP for it to be even contemplated. The one percenters would never allow it. I think, like it or not, you're stuck with the Glide Path option. Not very encouraging whichever way you look at it.

Yikes, we are doomed with all the politicals making the decisions. When do we really get the truth and get this mess fixed?
But this is a political decision. In my copy of our constitution I don't see any authority to fix prices, set spending limits or that the government is responsible for my health or medical care. Congress has not shown any responsibility to the taxpayers and citizens for spending all they ever do is create more debt!

When do we really get the truth and get this mess fixed?

Ask your friendly congressman that question, Maureen.

Well, I guess you'd better take that up with Mr Mauldin, Zak.
[this is good]

Ha my congress critters are McCain and Kyle fat chance they would listen to me. They are straight repubs and don't really care about me..now we do have a new rep.Gabrielle Giffords and she give me some hope.

As far as healthcare goes...I worked at both the insurance and provider (physician and hospital) levels for over 35 years and I believe that second to our dependence to oil, healthcare cost will bringing this nation down. Healthcare in this country is expensive, not effectived and not available to the most needy.. How stupid is that?

This healthcare trifecta is up against the most powerful insurance companies and hospital organization. I believe that they won't let a public healthcare option pass congress. What a shame, that option if managed correctly has the potential of righting this leaky boat.

Hospitals are in a race to get the most expensive up-to-date technology so they can compete and charge more. Insurance companies are all about how not to pay. Both are the result of greed, yes my friend right here in the good old USA it is all about greed. So its not about repubs and demos, left and right,,,,,more than anything else it is this greed that will bring us down.
